The Galveston LNG's board of directors, led by Alfred Sorensen, has been active in the energy industry for the past twenty years. The combined talents of the team, including major project development, energy deregulation and risk management skills, provide the basis for a successful LNG projects. Board of Directors: Alfred Sorensen, President and CEO and Director Alfred Sorensen has more than 15 years experience in the energy industry. In his first year as president of Duke Energy Europe, Sorensen increased sales of £1 billion, with earnings before interest and tax of $30 million US. He also established a full-scale energy-trading unit. Sorensen co-founded Continental Energy and grew it to become one of the largest physical trading entities in Canada. Dale Dickson, Vice President Risk Management and Director Dale Dickson, a Chartered Accountant by training entered into the energy trading industry in 1990 with SaskEnergy Inc. There, acting as a gas supply representative, he developed and executed sophisticated gas supply hedging programs and was responsible for the execution of futures, swaps and options. In 1995-2003, Dale worked for Duke Energy Marketing and Duke Energy North America, where he held the critical position of VP of Trading and Optimization. During his tenure he made significant improvements to Duke’s Logistics and Optimization, Portfolio Management and Financial Trading systems. Brad Karp, Director Brad Karp is a Principal of The CERITAS Group. Prior to joining The CERITAS Group in August 2003, Brad was Executive Vice President of Commercial Operations with EDF Trading Ltd., a subsidiary of Electricité de France, the leading wholesale energy marketing and trading company in Europe, from March, 2001 through June, 2003. Brad joined EDFT in March, 2001 as an Executive Committee Member. He participated in the formation of The CERITAS Group as a non-management investor. Prior to joining EDFT, he was the President of Duke Energy Merchants upon its inception in April, 1999, through February, 2001. He was President of Duke Energy Trading & Marketing, the wholesale energy trading joint venture between Duke Energy and ExxonMobil, from September, 1998, through April 2000. Beginning in September,1988, Brad held senior executive positions as the President or the senior commercial officer for the various midstream energy company predecessors to Duke Energy Trading & Marketing. These predecessors included PanEnergy Trading and Market Services, Associated Natural Gas and MEGA Natural Gas. The Associated Natural Gas merger into PanEnergy in 1994 formed the nucleus of the midstream natural gas company now known as Duke Energy Field Services. Jeffrey S. Boyce, Director Jeff Boyce is a senior oil and gas executive with over 24 years of domestic and international experience in building and financing and managing, public oil and gas companies. He is the current President & CEO and Director of Clear Energy Inc., former President & CEO and Co-Founder of Vermillion Resources Ltd., as well as Co-founder and Director of Aventura Energy Inc. Primary expertise includes financial markets, business development and exploration and land strategies. Mr. Boyce currently sits on the Board of Directors of two public energy companies and one private condominium corporation.
William Zartler, Director William Zartler, Managing Director of Denham Capital Management LP, is currently responsible for Denham's midstream and commercial investment portfolio. Mr. Zartler serves as the Chairman of the board of NGL Supply Inc, one of the oldest propane terminalling, marketing and natural gas liquids trading companies in North America. Mr. Zartler received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin in 1987, an MBA from Texas A&M University in 1989 and attended the Stanford Business School Executive Program in 1998. From 1989 through 1993 Mr. Zartler was the Feedstock Trading Manager and the Business Analyst at Dow Hydrocarbons and Resources where he was responsible for economics of the basic petrochemical and feedstock businesses. From 1993 through 1998 Mr. Zartler was a Senior Vice President and General Manger at Dynegy with responsibilities for the Natural Gas Liquids Downstream business unit and the a portion of the Gas Trading operation. Mr. Zartler led the growth of Dynegy’s Natural Gas Liquids business from nearly zero in 1993 to an operating margin of over $100 million per year by 1998. From 1999 through 2001 Mr. Zartler founded and actively managed several small companies. From 2001 through 2002 Mr. Zartler started and built a downstream Natural Gas Liquids business for Aquila, Inc. After 2002 and prior to the formation of Denham in July 2004, Mr. Zartler founded Solaris Energy Services an organization specializing in energy commodity and asset consulting and investment.
